A Lovely Face

There was a great grandma who lived in a lovely bungalow in the country. It was lovely because she had a very big window from which she saw some interesting things happening.

I will tell you one of them.

Lots of animals came to eat the grass in the field.

Once there were ten all black cows feeding there, and as she watched, she saw that four of them had their heads to-gether behind the garden wall, and they seemed to be talking.

When they raised their heads she was quite shocked to see that one of them had a very dirty face, and almost hear her asking one of them to clean it off; because cows do wash each other's faces sometimes.

Well, she butted one of them as much as to say "get on with it."

Then that one started to lick her friend clean; well, she started behind the ear and when she came to the dirty face, she just had one lick and that was enough. The mud that was dry, and dirty, and dusty went up her nose, and she had to stop cleaning it with her long tongue.

By this time the other black sisters came to see what was happening. Then they all put their heads together behind the wall, I believe they were talking about this one with the dirty face. And do you know, I think they decided that the cow with the dirty face should clean it herself because she had made it like that. Then they all walked away to munch some more grass.

Well, the next day there were ten black cows with clean faces!

How do you think she cleaned her face and coat?

Great grandma in the bungalow thought that perhaps she had rubbed her face on a tree trunk.

What do you think?
